Channel Profile BravaUSA
BravaUSA upholds a clear-cut and transparent channel profile, offering a horizontal programming schedule packed with exciting, beautiful and moving music from venues all over the world. To give an impression: a choice selection from the music on offer includes such names as the Berliner Philharmoniker, the Royal Opera House, the Luzerne Festival, the Sydney Opera House, Lang Lang, Anna Netrebko and Valery Gergiev.
Please find below more information about the several broadcasting segments that make up the BravaUSA channel profile: Amuse, The Masterpiece, Prime Time, Chamber Music, Music for Worship and Classical Light.
Horizontal programming schedule
BravaUSA broadcasts 24/7 and employs a horizontal programming schedule, so that our viewers know what kind of programs to expect each time of the day. Below you will find an outline of the general layout of the evening time schedule. We prefer to use this outline in a flexible manner, adapting it where required to fit performances (for instance a five hour long Wagner opera) and theme days (composer’s special, Valentine’s Day, Christmas).
After their broadcast as part of the evening schedule, all programs will be repeated over the subsequent weeks as part of a night, morning or afternoon block. Please find the 24 hour day-by-day schedule in the schedule.
Amuse
All evenings kick off with a musical starter: the Monday Amuse treats viewers to modern classical, Wednesday and Saturdays are devoted to comic opera (Amuse – Opera Buffa), and on Tuesdays Fridays and Sundays we offer a light-hearted concert.
The Masterpiece
Around 7.30 pm all evenings except Tuesday and Sunday, BravaUSA presents a celebrated masterpiece. Each day we select an important symphonic work. This may be (to name just a few examples) one of Anton Bruckner’s monumental symphonies, a majestic solo concerto by Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart or a symphonic poem by George Gershwin.
Prime Time
As in many concert halls and theaters, viewers of BravaUSA are treated to a performance starting around 8.30 pm. Every day we serve a different main course at prime time: Mondays are reserved for modern productions, Tuesdays for film or opera and Wednesdays for outstanding concertos. On Thursday we offer ballet, on Friday an evening-long opera, on Saturday a gala concert, and each Sunday evening brings yet another an exciting opera.
Chamber Music
Another highlight of our programming schedule is our offer of chamber music. From intimate piano solos and vocal recitals to the world’s most-loved string quartets and wind octets: our Chamber Music programming offers a wide range of performances by both international stars and young talents. Tune in around the clock of half past ten on each night excepting Wednesday.
Music for Worship
Among the innumerable compositions that have been written since the Middle Ages, a significant segment consists of music originally written for Church use or inspired by religious feeling. Many composers have reserved some of their best music for sacred compositions. The luster of our musical heritage would be greatly dimmed should we lose such sacred pieces as the Requiems written by Mozart, Verdi and Brahms. We have set aside two time slots for the highly significant genre of sacred music: Thursday evening at six and Sunday morning.
Classical Light
As day winds quietly down to a close, BravaUSA provides fitting music to accompany the late night hours. After 11 pm, instead of dramatic operas or sonorous concerts we offer beautiful selections from symphonies, chamber music performances and recitals. Classical Light is the only part of our horizontal programming schedule that includes excerpts rather than complete pieces. Each night, BravaUSA provides the perfect accompaniment for ending your day.
